These Wexford homeowners made a good choice when they decided to replace their kitchen with
all-walnut cabinets. Initially there was some concern that the kitchen would be too dark, but
removing the large bulkheads that were originally above the cabinets and the island actually made
the kitchen look brighter and more open. The existing recessed lights were re-installed in the ceiling.
One of the nicest features in this kitchen are the tall pantries on either side of the refrigerator.
One has two pull-outs, and the other has one, with a partitioned baking sheet storage area above. The
pull-outs are full-depth (24"), and have adjustable shelves with side panels.
The old granite counter top was not replaced, but it had to be removed and re-installed.
Also, a new section was required for the additional cabinets that were added. The removal,
re-installation and beautiful matching was done by
Bernardi Granite of Weirton, WV. The homeowners also did
a wonderful job of fitting and re-installing most of the wall tiles that had to be removed.
The cabinets have adjustable white melamine shelving. Four deep pull-out trays were put in the island,
and the base cabinets have a double trash bin pull-out. A new microwave was installed above the range;
six Xenon lights controlled by a 4-level touch dimmer were placed underneath the wall cabinets.
