The cherry kitchen in these photos is full of custom features. The twenty cabinets
plus angled island include narrow pull-out cabinets for spices, cleaning products, and
baking sheets. There is a pull-out trash bin, two roll-out trays under the sink, and a
tip-out sink front drawer. The sink area extends 3" further than the rest of the
counter top; this detail is also reflected in the crown molding above the sink area.
In the angled base end cabinet, the full storage space was used by building an angled-front
drawer and installing a small tip-out drawer. Mass-produced cabinets would normally have only
dummy drawer fronts in this type of cabinet. Next to the refrigerator, the tall pantry has a
heating duct underneath, with the register vent in the toe kick of the pantry. Halogen lights
with 4-level touch dimmers were placed above the counter top underneath the wall cabinets.
One side of the granite island top overhangs 12" to accommodate seating. The curved
laminated supports were built to allow unobstructed knee room. The granite counter tops were
provided by Premier Granite & Stone of Carnegie, PA.
The combined kitchen/dining area in this home also includes two cherry corner china cabinets which
can be seen in the Entertainment & Built-In section of this web site.
