This red oak blanket chest is one of my favorites. It was built as a Christmas gift in 2000 for a very dear personal friend. Hand-cut dovetails were used in the case construction, and the chest has cedar lining on the bottom and underneath the drawers. All three drawer fronts were cut consecutively from the same board in order to get a grain pattern and color that flows naturally. Keep this in mind the next time you look at mass-produced furniture, and see the difference that this attention to detail makes.
